Block scheduling is one of the most impactful changes I have made in my dental practice. Before this we were tired and worn out some days, and trying to find things to do in open time on other days. Block scheduling matches your time and energy optimally with the flow of patient care. A great analogy is to fill a jar with large rocks first, then smaller rocks, then finally the sand will fill in around the larger pieces. My learning is that once we started block scheduling our profitability went up significantly, as well as our enjoyment of the day.
