The launch of the new school year and helping my kids gather and organize school supplies, made the unorganized nature of my office at work an obvious spot for improvement. Some research resulted in a great strategy for organization an optimizing effectiveness. Box number one is for the things that don't belong at work, and need to be taken home. Box 2 is things that need to be thrown away. One realization is that anything on paper is also available online, so I don't need to save print journals. Box 3 is for things I can hand off or delegate. A classic example is patient models I have already reviewed and need to be put away, or samples of new materials.
I took the process one step further and created 3 folders for things that need my attention and a strategy to get them done!
