This video explores the science and the technique of tooth bleaching. Today we have the option of using either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide as the active ingredient for tooth bleaching. Although chemically similar, there are distinct differences that are an important factor in how the products work and patient instructions for use. We will look at the pros and cons for both ingredients, as well as the choices of in office or at home trays as a delivery mechanism. One of the most common concerns with bleaching is tooth sensitivity and we will explore this topic in depth, looking at what causes it and how to manage it. Additionally, we will explore the mechanism of action of both products and how to predictably get results the patient is happy with.
